Trainees at LQ

Good prospects for trainees

On 1 September another four new trainees have started the first year of their apprenticeship or training at LQ Mechatronik-Systeme. The future industrial administrators and mechatronics technicians have a varied and interesting period of training ahead of them at this mid-sized company with international operations. At present, LQ is training a total of twelve young people who will be skilled employees in the future.

LQ also offers opportunities to candidates whose CV is not “straightforward”. An apprenticeship that was not completed, an unsuccessful time at university or a year out are not necessarily criteria that will automatically cause an application for a training place to be rejected. It is precisely the experience gained from this and the personal maturity this brings that can – depending on the applicant – be a good basis for starting professional training.

Vocational training has a high status at LQ. Therefore, school-based training is supplemented by in-company training to achieve the most successful vocational training possible. Once a week school-related topics are examined or current issues worked through with the trainer. Other important topics are intensive preparation for examinations and practice at giving presentations. The mechatronics trainees also benefit from teaching in the company's own training workshop, which takes place for a whole day every two weeks.

As LQ trains for the company's own requirements, many opportunities are available once training has been completed. The range of activities for mechatronics technicians ranges from work scheduling and quality assurance through to building prototypes and switchgear cabinets and also design or development. Industrial administrators are sought-after young employees for working in purchasing, sales, requirements planning or project management.

This year, before the start of training, a getting-to-know day was held for trainees. The new trainees, together with their parents, visited LQ for an afternoon. Trainees made use of the opportunity to get to know their future training colleagues and to find out more information about the training itself. Parents, too, were very pleased to have an opportunity to gain an insight into their child's future employer and their training profession. All those involved were very enthusiastic about the getting-to-know day.

LQ is also intending to offer two training places for both industrial administrators and mechatronics technicians in 2017. In order to generate early interest in a training place, LQ is going to be represented with a stand at the vocational training fair in the Neckar-Enz district, which is known as B.A.N.E. for short. This fair is being held for the first time from 14 to 15 October 2016 at the municipal hall in Besigheim.
